CHEF BY THE BOOK
I've added another cookbook to my collection. Okay, I admit, it's not really a collection. Just 2 cookbooks, 1 microwave food book, and 1 dessert book: all collecting dust on my bookshelf. I even have a kindle vegan cookbook that I started reading but quickly lost interest in.
So, I'm not a cook. Sue me. But I can cook. I'm good at following orders/recipes.
And I'm so excited about my new cookbook.
How did I end up here? Julie and Julia. That's how. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
Julie Powell: an aspiring author who works in a cubicle decides to cook her way through Julia Child's cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, while blogging about it.
Julia Child: the most inspiring, remarkable woman and chef in the world!
I saw it last week for the hundredth time and immediately texted Guru! I was going to copy Julie and cook a different recipe from Mastering the Art of French Cooking (and blog about it, of course). However, Guru thought that the cookbook looked antiquated (I know! How dare he?). He sent me another cookbook -- Healthy Latin Eating by Angie Martinez and Angelo Sosa.
So, now that I'm here, with my new cookbook, I plan on starting tonight! I'll start with the first recipe and work my way through the book. And I'll be sure to take you on my journey. But please don't hold me to a high standard. I'm enthusiastic but not perfect!
