"Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning, but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.”
-Hal Borland
It's almost the end of the year. This means that millions of us are ready to make positive changes to our lives. We plan to wake up earlier, save more money, finish that book or album we've been working on, start working on that podcast we've been telling everybody about, or join the gym. All notable and life-changing habits, for sure. But unfortunately, 80 percent of us will fail at keeping these resolutions.
According to U.S. news, "By the second week of February, some 80 percent of those resolution-ers are back home with a new kind of remorse staring back at them in the mirror – the remorse of disappointment."
How do we stay on top of those resolutions? There are steps we can take. And I'm including myself because I don't want to be apart of that 80 percent. Here are a few tips to make sure you achieve some, if not all, of your New Year's resolutions by the end of 2018.
Here's to a year of success, happiness, and growth!
Don't Keep Your Day Job podcast - I'm a few episodes in and trust me, it will change the way you've been working on your creative side projects. But it's not limited to just that. Trust me on this one.
Suze Orman - You probably just rolled your eyes at me, but this woman changed my life when it comes to saving my money. Keep an open mind and just follow her advice! Just follow it and thank me later.
Learn to reduce stress - Okay, you're probably wondering, "how will this help me keep my resolutions?" When you're stressed out, you don't want to do anything. You don't want to move. And you don't care. Forget about your resolutions, stress will prevent you from succeeding in life. It's important to keep your stress levels down. Also, I use Ashwagandha. It's a miracle pill.
StickK - If your resolution is going to the gym more, then this app will definitely help you. You'll sign a virtual contract and add a commitment, which can be exercising regularly. You'll be putting money at stake and if you don't reach your goal then it goes to charity. But seriously, if you sign a contract, you should try your best to honor that contract. You don't want to be someone who breaks his/her word, do you?
CARROT - I'm officially making "waking up at 5am" my New Year's resolution. Don't roll your eyes at me Guru! I've never made this a resolution before. Honestly, I know why I wake up late. It's because I'm a night owl. I'm productive at nights. But my goal for the new year is to be productive in the mornings. Get a headstart on my day. "Wake up with the birds," my grandma always said, "only the dead sleep past dawn." So, to get a full seven hours of sleep or say six hours (haha), I should be in bed by 10pm or 11pm (at the latest). Anyway, this app, which cost $2.99, is my new best friend. Let's see how good of a friend it is. I'll let you know in February.
Good luck guys! 20 percent group, here we come!
