LOVE LETTER AMERICA
I recently stumbled across Love Letter America, a project by Erin Allweiss that was launched on Valentine’s day, with the help of a bunch of artists who design postcards that we can use to send to our representatives in Congress. What an excellent idea! I’ve always wanted to send letters to my representatives but I’m just not cut out for it. By the end of my (very angry letter, riddled with exclamation marks and willful typos, I feel and look like an angry seventy-year-old denied her usual dose of sex. Did you know that while most adults are having lesser sex, the rate has actually risen for those over seventy?) Ok, I’m sorry for the distraction!
Love Letter America is truly inspiring. You can print out a postcard and write on it. There's no better way to write my rant, than on a beautiful card that has a positive message. Each card shows support for immigration, the LGBTQ community, climate change, women’s rights, equal rights, etc.
It’s a positive way to get involved, even if you’re not political or you’re trying to stay neutral. We all believe in a thing or two, so why not show our representatives what we love about America?
P.S. I just downloaded a card, and instead of a rant, it inspired me to write something uplifting and heartfelt. Love trumps hate!
